Our main goal is to understand the molecular events leading to and involved in neuropsychiatric disorders. We utilize molecular biology and live-cell imaging techniques to explore the function of single cells in real time. Our main areas of research are:

GPCR (NIH-NIDA)

Our work is focused on the function of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) the largest family of signaling receptors regulating neural function and a major target for therapeutic intervention and drug discovery. We investigate the trafficking and signaling in real time of the Mu opioid receptor and the Cannabinoid receptor (CNR1-CNR2).

BK Channels (NIH-NIAAA)

In close colaboration with the Treistman lab. we investigate the physiology and trafficking of the BK channel and its subunits during acute and chronic regulation by ethanol exposure in neurons.
