María Celeste Larriuz Serrano, MS, MPH
María C. Larriuz Serrano completed a bachelor’s degree in Arts with a concentration in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. She continued her career as a public health worker, completing a master’s degree in public health with a specialty in epidemiology, and later she obtained a Master in Science-Epidemiology, both of them at the Graduate School of Public Health of the University of Puerto Rico Medical Science Campus (UPR MSC). She has been directly involved in different positions in research studies at the UPR MSC (1997 – 2010). Mrs. Larriuz has extensive knowledge of regulations on research with human subjects. She worked for 10 years on the Human Research Subjects Protection Office from UPR MSC. Mrs. Larriuz serves as a Project Coordinator at the EHSRC. In her functions, is responsible for coordinating the implementation of the protocol in all its phases and complying with regulatory aspects following institutional, state, and federal policies. She is particularly interested in topics related to epidemiology, research compliance, public health, and social/behavioral research.
