{"id":55,"date":"2014-07-17T17:18:11","date_gmt":"2014-07-17T17:18:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/md.rcm.upr.edu\/obigyn\/?page_id=55"},"modified":"2021-02-01T12:58:52","modified_gmt":"2021-02-01T16:58:52","slug":"ob-gyn-residents-research-curriculum","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/md.rcm.upr.edu\/obigyn\/ob-gyn-residents-research-curriculum\/","title":{"rendered":"Ob-Gyn Residents Research Curriculum"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<strong>Introduction:\u00a0 <\/strong>The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology requires each resident to initiate and complete an independent original research project during their residency.<\/p>\n<p>Conducting a research study is not difficult, but it is time consuming and requires careful planning.\u00a0 Thus, to be successful, it is important to be diligent, help each other out, and remember that you are not alone.<\/p>\n<p>Residents in Ob\/Gyn will work directly on a research project with an investigator to develop and to perform research.\u00a0 Residents will learn relevant research methodologies, as well as how to conduct research according to ethical guidelines, review research literature, use statistics, and write a protocol.\u00a0 Residents will also learn how to present research findings and prepare results for publication.<\/p>\n<p>Research work is divided between first, second and third year of training:<\/p>\n<p><strong>PGY-1 Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Research Topic Development<\/li>\n<li>Research protocol: writing, presentation and review process<\/li>\n<li>IRB submission<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>PGY-2 Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Initiate the study<\/li>\n<li>Progress report of study<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>PGY-3 Year<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Presentation of study results<\/li>\n<li>Publication.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Introduction:\u00a0 The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology requires each resident to initiate and complete an independent original research project during their residency.
