The Annual Puerto Rico Neuroscience Conference is the most important neuroscience event in Puerto Rico. A one-day meeting that supports neuroscience research and training in Puerto Rico and beyond. This year, the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Science Campus will host the event at the Jaime Benitez Rexach Amphitheater within the UPR MSC Campus at the School of Pharmacy.
This conference consists of four plenary talks by leading neuroscience researchers. The event also includes poster/oral presentations from: undergraduate, graduate students, postdocs, clinicians, and faculty interested in a broad spectrum of topics within the neurosciences.
History
The Puerto Rico Neuroscience Conference originated 33 years ago (1992). It has since been a space for academics, researchers, clinicians, and students alike to be able to meet and collaborate on sharing information regarding the fascinating scientific field of neuroscience. Every year, the Puerto Rico Neuroscience Conference invites distinguished speakers who present plenary talks on cutting-edge research topics and share inspiring narratives about their professional journeys. This is a student- focused event that encourages future neuroscientists to share their personal research projects and provide updates. More than 80 posters are presented each year with the majority given by graduate and undergraduate students from different academic institutions.
Each year, the event is hosted in rotation by five institutions: Universidad Central del Caribe, Ponce Health Sciences University, University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, University of Puerto Rico-Medical Sciences Campus (which includes the Institute of Neurobiology), and Pontificia Universidad Católica, Ponce Campus.
