Gonzalez Montalvo, MD, FACS, is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, where he has maintained fully academic surgical practice since completing his training in 2019. His clinical and academic interests focus on Endocrine Surgery and Minimally Invasive Foregut Surgery, with a particular expertise in robotic and laparoscopic techniques.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gonz\u00e1lez-Montalvo began his training in Endocrine Surgery under the mentorship of Dr. William M\u00e9ndez, developing advanced skills in thyroid and parathyroid ultrasound, adrenal surgery (robotic, and open), and thyroid\/ parathyroid surgeries. He is certified in adult complex thyroid and parathyroid surgery and holds a Focused Practice Designation from the American Board of Surgery.<\/p>\n<p>He also maintains a high-volume practice in minimally invasive foregut surgery (laparoscopic and robotic), with specific interests in paraoesophageal hernias, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and foregut motility disorders. Dr. Gonz\u00e1lez combines endoscopic techniques with minimally invasive surgical interventions to manage upper gastrointestinal problems.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Gonz\u00e1lez-Montalvo is deeply committed to medical education. He serves as Fourth-Year Medical Student Clerkship Director and participates in multiple institutional committees.
