“Family and Friends CPR Anytime” from the American Heart Association
Summary: The Emergency Medicine Program (EMP) of the UPR Medical Sciences Campus School of Medicine, in collaboration with the Endowed Health Services Research Center and the project “Salud para Piñones”, held a community outreach activity to train community leaders and volunteers in cardiorespiratory emergency management. Doctors and Residents from EMP taught participants basic strategies for cardiorespiratory emergency management.

Community Health Workers Training
Summary: The Endowed Health Services Research Center (EHSRC) offered a training program for community health workers (CHWs) that are working in the western region of Puerto Rico, as part of the demonstration project held in this area. This project is being directed by Puerto Rico’s Department of Health. The curriculum included topics about knowledge and basic skills for CHWs, as well as management and control of chronic diseases.
