María del Carmen González Prieto has a M.P.H. with a concentration in Epidemiology and has nineteen years of experience in Cardiology and Neurology research studies.  She currently works as a Research Coordinator for the Cardiovascular Surveillance Study, focused on describing the incidence of acute myocardial infarction, heart failure and cerebrovascular disease, hospital and long term case-fatality rates, hospital and post discharge management practices, and deaths due to cardiovascular diseases in Puerto Ricans.  Her personal interest is raising awareness of cardiovascular diseases in the population.
