Greetings,

On behalf of the General Psychiatry Training Program at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, I extend a warm welcome to all visitors of the General Psychiatry Residency Training Program.

As the Associate Training Director, it is my pleasure to support the Training Director and work closely with our dedicated faculty and residents to ensure an enriching and rewarding training experience. Our program is designed to nurture the next generation of compassionate and skilled psychiatrists who will make a significant impact on mental health care.

At our program, we believe in a comprehensive and balanced approach to training. We provide residents with the necessary tools and opportunities to develop clinical expertise, evidence-based practice, and a deep understanding of the cultural and socioeconomic factors that influence mental health. Through various clinical rotations, including inpatient, outpatient, consultation-liaison, and community psychiatry, our residents gain exposure to many psychiatric conditions and diverse patient populations.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Our residents benefit from small group discussions, case conferences, journal clubs, and interactive didactic sessions that promote active learning and collaborative problem-solving. We encourage resident engagement and the exploration of research interests, allowing residents to contribute to advancing psychiatric knowledge.

The General Psychiatry Training Program is proud to be a part of the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, which provides a rich academic and research environment. Our residents can access many associated facilities, extensive library resources, and interdisciplinary collaborations that enhance their training experience.

As you navigate through the General Psychiatry Residency Training Program, you will find detailed information about our curriculum, faculty, resident life, and the application process.”
