Personal Statement
Dr. González-Montalvo began his training in Endocrine Surgery under the mentorship of Dr. William Méndez, developing advanced skills in thyroid and parathyroid ultrasound, adrenal surgery (robotic, and open), and thyroid/ parathyroid surgeries. He is certified in adult complex thyroid and parathyroid surgery and holds a Focused Practice Designation from the American Board of Surgery.
He also maintains a high-volume practice in minimally invasive foregut surgery (laparoscopic and robotic), with specific interests in paraoesophageal hernias, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and foregut motility disorders. Dr. González combines endoscopic techniques with minimally invasive surgical interventions to manage upper gastrointestinal problems.
Dr. González-Montalvo is deeply committed to medical education. He serves as Fourth-Year Medical Student Clerkship Director and participates in multiple institutional committees. He is passionate about mentoring the next generation of surgeons and fostering a collaborative, high-standard training environment.
His research contributions span endocrine, and minimally invasive surgery, with publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international, national and local meetings.
Dr. González-Montalvo is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and member of: International Society of Innovative Technologies for Endocrine Surgery, American Association of Endocrine Surgery and American Foregut Society.
