Welcome to the Associate Deanship for Clinical Affairs, where we are committed to the maintenance of the needed clinical workshops required for the best education and training of our medical students and residents under the safest environment that promotes their learning and fulfillment of the established UPR School of Medicine objectives.

At the Associate Deanship for Clinical Affairs, we are responsible for keeping up to date the affiliation agreements between the UPR School of Medicine and more than one hundred institutions throughout the island, including hospitals, medical schools, and private practice clinics, where our students and residents have the opportunity to perform required and elective rotations. Meanwhile, we are always promoting the addition of more workshops in order to increase the available opportunities for our medical students and residents. Even though most of our training workshops are located in San Juan metropolitan area, we have and promote affiliation of diverse workshops throughout Puerto Rico. At the same time, we are responsible to keep and create any required affiliation agreement with any accredited institution in the USA where our medical students desire to perform any approved away rotation.

On the other hand, at the Associate Deanship for Clinical Affairs, we are responsible to administer the assigned Academic Fund that allows the appropriate operations of the two largest UPR School of Medicine clinical workshops, which are located at the UPR Hospital in Carolina and Mayaguez Area Hospitals, assuring we have the required number of faculty members and administrative staff needed for the best academic environment.

In summary, the Associate Deanship for Clinical Affairs has a vital role in keeping and promoting affiliation with all the required clinical workshops needed for the training of our medical students and residents under a safe atmosphere that promotes their learning and academic achievements in the clinical setting.
