Welcome to the Division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology of the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine. Here, you will find information about our clinical services, research activities, and medical education and training. The Division emphasizes excellence in all these components. Being the major referral medical center in Puerto Rico, the number and variety of patients seen is very ample and large. The Division provides outstanding training to medical students, medical residents and fellows and it is home to the only training programs in Rheumatology and Allergy & Immunology in Puerto Rico. Both programs are fully accredited by the American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Our Division has an outstanding core of attending physicians, all board-certified in their respective specialties and subspecialties, and active in clinical research. Es un verdadero placer presentarles la novena edición del boletín La Coyuntura. Al igual que en años anteriores, el 2025 fue un año de múltiples retos para nuestra Sección de Reumatología; sin embargo, estos no impidieron que continuáramos destacándonos en las áreas de servicio, docencia e investigación. El 2026 se perfila como un año aún más desafiante, ya que será un período de transición importante para nuestra sección. Durante este año, el Dr. Salvador Vilá, la Dra. María Bidot y este servidor nos retiraremos de la institución.
