Selection of Residents

The Admissions Committee chooses two residents each year from applications submitted through the National Residency Matching Program’s ERAS.  The Committee consists of Attending Faculty members and the current Chief Residents.  The Program Director presides the committee.

The application deadline is usually October 31st of the preceding academic year.  In addition to the completed ERAS application, the following requirements must be met to be considered for interview:

  1. Medical School transcript (ECFME certificate if Foreign Medical School Graduate). Candidate must have graduated from medical school no more than 5 years prior to application.
  2. Medical school GPA >3.5 is highly recommended
  3. MSPE (Medical School Performance Evaluation): no negative professionalism remarks
  4. No failures on USMLE Steps 1 & 2
  5. USMLE step 2 score of >230
  6. Publications: at least 1 peer-reviewed or 3 abstracts/presentations is highly recommended
  7. 3 LOR (Letter of Recommendation) with at least one from otolaryngologist
  8. Curriculum vitae and personal statement
  9. Candidate must be fully bilingual (English/Spanish)
  10. Rotation in our service is not required but highly recommended

Favorable candidates will be invited for interviews in January or February.
