Education

  • Dr. Diana Negrón graduated magna-cum-laude from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine.
  • She completed a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Puerto Rico affiliated hospitals, where she was appointed Chief Resident for the last two years of her training.
  • In 2006, she was certified by the American Board of Pathology in anatomic and clinical pathology under the new designation of Maintenance of Certification.
  • She successfully revalidated the board certification in 2016 in both anatomic and clinical pathology.
  • She is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists and of the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Dr. Negrón is currently the medical director of the laboratories of the Department of Pathology, which include histopathology and electron microscopy, clinical immunology, parasite immunology and pathology, molecular pathology and histocompatibility and DNA. She is also the Associate Director of the Anatomic and Clinical Pathology Residency Program. She is  involved in the training of residents, fellows, nurses and medical technologists and participates in the pathology course of the second year medical students. In addition, she is also experienced in human resources and medical coding and billing. She has published in peer-reviewed journals in the areas of both anatomic and clinical pathology. Her interest areas include transfusion medicine, hematopathology, clinical immunology and laboratory administration.
