Location
The Histopathology and Electron Microscopy Laboratory is part of the laboratory complex of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The Histopathology Section is located on the third floor, Office A-391, and the Electron Microscope Unit is in the basement Office BB-11 of the Medical Sciences Campus Building Dr. Guillermo Arbona-Irrizary, at the Puerto Rico Medical Center grounds.
Working Hours
The regular working hours are from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Services Offered
The Histopathology and Electron Microscopy Laboratory processes the human tissues obtained during surgery or autopsy, which arrive for consultation and/or diagnosis. They can arrive as a H&E stained slide, formalin-fixed specimen or specimen embedded in paraffin (specimen block). The following services are available for the processing and analysis of the specimen:
- Consultation and slide review
- Immunohistochemistry
- Special stains
- Immunofluorescence
- Electron microscopy
