Education
- Dr. María S. Correa-Rivas obtained her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine.
- She completed a combined residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Puerto Rico affiliated hospitals, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Pathology at Indiana University.
- She is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. In addition, she is Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Pathologist, the College of American Pathologists and a member of the Society for Pediatric Pathology.
Dr. Correa is Professor of Pathology at the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, where she is the Director of the combined residency program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Her duties also include supervising the pathology residents in the pediatric surgical pathology and autopsy cases.
She occupies leadership positions within the Medical Sciences Campus as Medical Director of the University Pediatric Hospital Clinical laboratory, course coordinator of the Second Year Pathology Course and member of the School of Medicine Admission Committee. She is among the most published authors of the Department of Pathology with 21 peer reviewed full articles to her credit. Her interest areas include placenta and perinatal pathology and tumor pathology.
