The Office of the Dean of Medicine recently provided a grant to Drs. Jean E. Turnquist and Robert W. Kensler to establish a Histology Teaching Facility in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology.
The facility is equipped with two independent units, each with a 5-head microscope, which allow students and faculty to simultaneously view histological slides during small group discussions. This new facility provides students an opportunity to obtain training and experience working directly with microscopes without requiring the purchase of such equipment on an individual basis. The department expects the facility to enhance and enrich the Medical Histology course. The new microscopes will also be available for specialized workshops and training sessions for graduate students, residents and medical faculty.
