The University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine at the Medical Sciences Campus celebrated yesterday the graduation of 125 medical residents and interns who completed their training in 34 specialties and subspecialties.
Of the Class of 2025, 40 percent will continue their studies in subspecialties, while 60 percent will enter the workforce, mostly in Puerto Rico, or will dedicate themselves to teaching and research.
“The healthcare system faces enormous challenges, and your decision to stay and serve here is an act of leadership and hope. Puerto Rico needs professionals like you,” said UPR interim president Miguel Muñoz in a written statement.
The rector of the Medical Sciences Campus, Myrna L. Quiñones Feliciano, highlighted the importance of this graduation ceremony in the context of the School’s 75th anniversary, while Dean Debora Silva emphasized the values of excellence, compassion, and social responsibility as the institution’s hallmarks.
This year, the School obtained initial accreditation for a new Neurosurgery program and expanded residency slots, reaffirming its commitment to training professionals to serve Puerto Rico.
