Overview
The Cardiology Section is based at the University Pediatric Hospital and at the Cardiovascular Hospital in Puerto Rico Medical Center. The Section provides both outpatient and inpatient consultation and management services for neonates, infants, children and adolescents with cardiovascular disorders. It is one of the largest cardiology services in the Island. It serves and gives clinical cardiology service support to the only pediatric cardiac surgery service in PR.
At present the section is in the process of developing a clinical service to provide care to adults with congenital cardiac anomalies.
In patient Services
The section faculty is committed to provide consultation services to the Pediatric University Hospital 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. Transfers are accepted from the complete island of Puerto Rico, as well as the Virgin Islands. Service is trained to perform invasive procedures such as those mentioned below. The faculty is competent, fully trained and certified to perform invasive and interventional procedures.
Outpatient Services
The outpatient Service is offered mainly in the Cardiovascular Center Hospital in the Medical Center in San Juan, PR and at the UPR Hospital at Carolina, PR. Among the services we offer are:
