Overview
The Hematology/Oncology Section is based at the University Pediatric Hospital at Puerto Rico Medical Center. The Section provides both outpatient and inpatient consultation and management services for neonates, infants, children and adolescents with hematology and oncology disorders. The Section also provides direct patient care in a 15 bed ward and a 3 bed transplant unit. It is one of the largest pediatric hematology/oncology services in the Island.
In patient Services
The section faculty is committed to provide consultation services and direct patient care to the Pediatric University Hospital 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week. Transfers are accepted from the complete island of Puerto Rico, as well as the Virgin Islands. Service is trained to give a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to the care of patients with hematology and oncology disorders.
Outpatient Services
The outpatient Service is offered mainly in the School of Medicine Outpatient Clinics and at the outpatient service clinics (Clinicas de Continuidad) at the University Pediatric Hospital in the Medical Center at San Juan, PR.
